ALSTEC are pleased to announce the award of a prestigious two-year contract by the Council for the Central Laboratory of the Research Councils (CCRLC) at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory for Installation Management of Target Station 2 (TS-2).
The ISIS Spallation Neutron Facility is based at the CCLRC, Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (RAL) in Oxfordshire. It is currently the most powerful pulsed-neutron source in operation worldwide and provides materials scientists with experimental facilities that allow them to develop new materials that have impact on the daily lives of all people.
The project for the construction and commissioning of an ISIS second target station will double the capabilities of the existing facility and extend the range of materials studied.
As the Installation Management Contractor and Principal Contractor, ALSTEC is responsible for the provision of a management team to manage, supervise and control the workforce and subcontractors for the purposes of mechanical fitting, welding electrical fitting and wiring, heavy lifting, scaffolding, civil and building works, testing and commissioning and various other skilled and semi-skilled tasks. ALSTEC will be responsible for the installation of complex and sensitive scientific equipment and all necessary service connections and distribution.
Services provided by ALSTEC will extend to detailed planning of civil, electrical and mechanical work on the TS-2 site, logistical management of the site, procurement and safety supervision.
